I don't think they took him in the house generally before that and other neighbours said much the same. He was usually out all night and all day in very bad weather. i used to hear him crying in the middle of the night, soaking wet and cold so made a little bed for him in the porch where he has warmth and shelter. I used to go downstairs and let him in if he cried. He gets same foods as other cats but has now shown a preference for expensive things like Gourmet
